    R.I.P. my good ol’ Expy

I haven’t ordered parts yet. I figure open it up a bit, see what actually happened, then go from there. Once the valve cover is off, I’ll see if there’s anything amiss inside before taking it further. I’m betting on cheap timing parts, but don’t want to overlook the possibility that valves...

    R.I.P. my good ol’ Expy

Following up a bit. I haven’t done any work yet, but I’ve decided to tear into the front end and see what happened. Hoping it’s some of the above suggestions. I do know the motor still turns with no noise (I didn’t try it long, just enough to assure myself I wasn’t working in vain. Dude note: I...

    R.I.P. my good ol’ Expy

Allegedly, the phasers were replaced / timing job done right before I purchased it from a small town lot here in IL. Of course I find out after the fact they were known for tossing in used parts if they could, rather than new China parts even. So, it was half assed at best I’m sure. Oz ‘05...

    R.I.P. my good ol’ Expy

Just for the record, The known things that preceded the issue, and the after: I replaced a faulty VCT solenoid a few weeks ago. Those were both replaced about a year and a half ago, bank 2 went bad a while back and caused occasional timing error codes, and had a pretty decent oil leak. Since...

    R.I.P. my good ol’ Expy

I thought it’s the front timing cover, I’ll have to have a look again in the light without it pouring rain on me. But then the wonder... “WTF came through that hole???” It’s gonna sit a while regardless, and while it’s not in bad shape overall with 267,000 on it-plus lots of the usual 2nd gen...

    R.I.P. my good ol’ Expy

So, this happened today. Evidently something came loose in the timing cover and exited the bank 2 side. Probably a lot more $ and effort to fix for me than it’s worth. Oz ‘05 Expedition EB, 5.4 3v

    P0401 AND P0406

Things to check: Is the EGR tube clear, no blockage? Is there a vacuum leak? Check the DFP sensor voltage. It can throw the 401. Oz ‘05 Expedition EB, 5.4 3v

Is it just snake oil or does the stuff work !?

I seem to recall a video done by Fordtechmakuloco that dealt with a phantom misfire, where #8 misfire was actually caused by #1 or vice versa. I tried a quick search but didn’t find that particular video. I did see one that wound up being #4 misfire caused by bad seating of injector #4. Just...

Forscan spread sheet for 2006 4wd

I’m going to guess no. Being 3rd gen I’ll bet there’s a lot of changes. But, I’m no expert so that’s why I asked around. I actually hope I’m wrong. I’d love to see my options on my 05 EB. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Forscan spread sheet for 2006 4wd

I’ve asked around for the same in a 05. No luck in my searches. I don’t believe there is one because of the VSM on 2nd gen, which was changed to a BSM on 3rd and up. I’m following just in case. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    ECU's Clearing

For clearing codes, I usually use a cheap ODBII device or FORScan, provided I’ve corrected the issues. The procedure you described will clear the PCM and you’ll have to relearn its functions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Door sensor data error- VSM issues?

You may want to inspect the wiring trough I mentioned before going at trying to replace or repair connectors at the VSM. That seems to be a common issue with this era. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
