Got my motor and transmission mounted and the motor painted! Should be ready for break in the next few weeks. My dang custom dual carb intake/exhaust combo ran into a hiccup. The exhaust ports are to long and the one was crashing into the alternator so I have to rework that and while I’m at it...- Reed

Building my own vehicle and liked the 2gen expy chassis so I went with it! Transmission and Tcase out of a 1996 F350, ZF5-47 can’t remember what Tcase it is. Motor: Carbed 300 I6. Not sure about that. I know the actuator is on the passenger side firewall in the engine bay. There is a fuse box that has quite a few relays on the passenger side in the cabin there at floor level behind a panel. And I think there might be another in the engine bay somewhere close to the battery.- Reed

Just a thought, you could try running a full vacuum line and bypass the actuator to keep your front hubs unlocked. The hubs on these expeditions are locked without vacuum. The vacuum pressure overcomes the spring on the lock. Kind of a nice fail safe if you were to lose vacuum you would still...- Reed

Or you could just go the trial and error way and see if the 2wd bearing assembly fits also wouldn’t hurt to check if the spindles themselves have the same part number between 4wd and 2wd. The directions my thoughts are going is if you still need the support for the bearing pull the CV axle and and cut it off. (See pic, you’d have to make sure to leave enough of the axle on the back side so when you tighten the axle bolt it will squeeze it and keep everything tight. If you still...- Reed

2nd Gen Frame
For a full restore I’d go that route but it’s not bad enough where I’d need to. Knocking the scale off with a need gun power washing it and then coatingit with a spray or paint on will do the job for what I’m needing. 2nd Gen Frame
It’s a pretty stout frame! The motor, tranny, tease and body weighed in at 2920lbs. Had some rust but I finished knocking all that off and hopefully Friday I’m going to power wash it and coat it!- Reed
