Gee it was the rear VSS / ABS sensor.
Good thing it was not the other 2 sensors that do not exist on 99 Expeditions.
The very next time my brake pads make a squealing noise they may only need to be cleaned rather than replaced or should I check what the scan tool has to say?
Rate yor expedition
I would give mine an 8 out of 10.
I have had sports cars, basic luxury cars and gas sipping small cars and I enjoy driving the expedition the most.
I can go about anywhere on road and off road and I am prepared for all kinds road and weather conditions.
It has been loaded...
ABS Light
My ABS light has come on 2 times in the 10 years.
Both times I had a bad ABS sensor causing the issue.
It can be located on the very top middle of the rear axle housing.
There is 1 bolt holding it in place, remove the bolt , it will take a little effort, but pull upwards on the...
Check you wiper fluid tank.
Is it low?
Then you have a hose disconnected or a leak behind the passenger right floor side panel. That is where the hose from the wiper tank travels to the back of the vehicle.
It will leak or disconnect time to time. Especially if you had a cold snap and...
Any brand name would be most likely fine. I purchased the generic great deal COPs and got what I paid for.
Accell , Ford, Delphi any guaranteed brand name should work pretty well, I would not buy any good as COPs, I have a mix of FORD and Standard / NAPA and they are working fine
I replaced all my coil packs a couple of years ago with 8 supposedly new coil packs from Ebay for 75. They worked great for a while then the truck developed a hesitation at low idle from about 800 to 1000 RPM you could feel it stumble a little when parked then pick right back up fine at 1200...
I purchase one gallon of 1.25 wiper fluid and split it between 3 vehicles.
If I want the bugs off my windsheild, it will be a personal squeegee wash or a car wash. Wiper fluid is only for the pretty blue color and really has no practical purpose.
bedrck46 is dead on.
That is the exact way I was able to reach and change the #4 plug.
Just take your time and make sure you tape your extensions and socket swivels so they do not pop off when you start to pull the plug out of the cylinder head.
I agree with greasemonger it appears the previous owner capped off all the smog hoses and rerouted the PVC and brake booster hoses to the much larger intake hoses thinking he was enhancing performance.
I have the JAN 99 EXP, and it is all factory, but you appear to have a different intake...
Hate to say it , but they do look small.
Also as they wear they are going to look smaller and smaller.
I am in agreement, it would be best to trade up.
I have the same size tire on my 2wd, but it is 265/75/16 Toyo Open Country HT for Highway.
I am not sure I would take my 99 Expedition in, I have had 0 issues since purchasing it used in 2005.
Just as 71Rcode stated I do not trust these guys.
OEM fender flares
Looks nice.
But I went the other way and painted mine black.
I got a complete set of EB fender flares from 3 different Expeditions at the local truck junkyard.
It took that many to find a complete undamaged set.
I pulled a dry wall screw out of my basically brand new front passenger tire.
Local grocery store I visit was getting a office upgrade and I guess I parked too close to the job site dumpster and picked up a passenger.
It was right in the thick tread, but it still punctured and was leaking...
You are correct I have seen a number of EBs that are really wore out or not taken care of, it all depends on the owner. We got lucky and our XLT was owned by a old gentlemen that used it basically for towing the boat on the weekends.
Air suspension was optional and on all EBs.
My sons EB had...
