All Fluids and filters, belt , hoses, a basic shake down, check brakes and tires, and fix any known issues. Yes those darn door ajar. And a good paint correction if needed. Just basics no need to over do it.
I tried pressing out the lower ball joint and i ended flairing it out. So i ended up with moog lower control arms. For the upper control arms... moog was not on point with a 2003 / 2004. Motorcraft had 2 part numbers. Moog tech support gave me a run around until i pointed out motorcraft...
If i were not to use oem... i would probably try the denso version. They are available on rockauto. I heard standard makes the ford one if that helps. I could be wrong too. I used accel versions but they didnt last as long as oem. As for plugs.. i would use motorcraft but if i didnt...
Yep you had the battery disconnect long enough to clear all the learned positions. The quick way is to ground out the positive cable. Glad it is running good again!!
i had a jeep with a similar issue .... i simply pulled the ABS fuse. Yes the abs light was on and no abs but the brakes worked fine after that. It may be a good test for you. Wont hurt anything for sure. and gotta get your code scanned out.
yep been there done that... did one and fixed the door ajar. Simple switch and was simply worn out.. and was on the front passenger door. You would think it would have been the driver door.
Need to do a relearn... disconnect battery and ground out positive for a few minutes. This will wipe out all learned settings. It is free and fixed my iac when I changed out mine. Idled high till I did the relearn.
I found moog doesn't have right parts. They don't recognize 2003 / 2004 build years. I used Ford parts website to help me out. Then I ended up with mevotech uca... the higher grade ones. Called moog tech support and he discounted my call... till I started quoted info of Ford parts...

Check pcv.. can cause oil consumption. Blue smoke right at start are the valve seals but sounds like not happening. Also use a good oil filter wix, or Motorcraft. Most important and sounds like you do is keep on eye on level and keep adding. Then you can get fancy maybe pull the fuel pump...
Yep been down this road. I like to keep my old expedition running too in top condition. Yes the brakes are lacking. I had napa drilled and slotted rotors years after warping the originals twice within 30k. Skip ahead to 170k... got power stop drilles and slotted rotors and akebono higher...
I agree with the other posts. The rebuilt engines are not perfect out of the crate either. Rust is another huge factor. And what you already replaced and the overall condition of vehicle. The used and new market is ridiculous right now. If you really like the vehicle then go for it... I...
