Recently I noticed two very small puddles under the front end of my 2005 Expedition. There was one on each side almost directly under the tie rods where they enter the rack and pinion. My gut was to order a new rack and pinion, but a coworker advised me to investigate further. I'm glad I did...
Just an update. I did NOT replace the cams nor did I remove the oil pan. I did LIGHTLY sand the cam journals with emery cloth and cleaned them with brake clean before reinstalling them. I removed all the broken plastic guide pieces and accounted for them all. As for the 'metal shavings' floating...
Update.
I was able to resolve this issue with a bottle of CataClean for less than 30 bucks. No more CEL code P0420. Also my fuel millage increased from 12 MPG to 15 MPG. I highly recommend this product to anyone with catalytic converter issues.
I did not reprogram the as-built. What I did, which probably didn't really do anything, was to plug the 'new' junkyard control module into the truck. I started the truck and the warning lights/message came right back. Before doing anything I checked the pins on the wire harness as outlined by...
I know this post is from last year, but I am having a similar issue.
How did the repair go?
Is it possible that there is an electrical short in the wiring harness? I tried a different ABS control module but it did NOT fix the issue.
Very odd. My 2005 has the ABS light and the AdvacTrac light both on, as well as a warning in the information center stating the AdvacTrac is malfunctioning. Both AWD and 4WD work. The ABS doesn't work though. I have been trying to track my issue down to no avail. I'm actually writing a post...
This is going to sound a bit strange, but has the throttle body every been cleaned?
The reason I ask is that a dirty throttle body will 'mimic' other types of issues. I don't know if the throttle body of first generations are electronic or not. When the electronic throttle bodies become caked...
I have an Avital remote start which I purchased several years ago for an Expedition I no longer have. I recently purchased another Expedition and plan on installing the remote starter. It kind of bugs me that there really isn't any SPECIFIC instructions and/or step by step direction with it. If...
Welcome to the forum.
I'm on my third Expedition. I've owned a first generation 1998 XLT, a second gen 2005 Eddie Bauer and currently own a 2005 Limited. I bought my current 05 for 2500 bucks! It needed the cam phasers replaced and a complete timing job. What a learning experience that was. I...
This is one of the videos I watched, but apparently I didn't notice she skipped the seat removal tutorial.
:D:rolleyes:
SUV CONVERSION Pt. 2 - Insulation Framing & Flooring | 2005 Ford Expedition Camper Overlander Build
I tried half a dozen times and the gauge never came up. My son found a post elsewhere which indicated on SOME model years the gauge wouldn't operate without CONTINUIOS pressure. It went onto state that since only the 'top end' was worked on, there would be sufficient oil remaining on critical...
So today I was able to completely reassemble my 2005 Expy. I left the crank shaft sensor unplugged as directed by FordTechMakuloco Brian. I cranked over the motor and waited 20 seconds for the oil pressure 'gauge' to come up to indicate oil pressure. The gauge didn't move. I understand that its...
