Thanks, I can do a good visual inspection and physical inspection on my own. I have a code reader with live data and know how to read FFD, fuel trims and O2 sensors and past codes. I can check for body rot, bad ball joints, bad leaky seals, heater core problems, fluids and brakes and so on but...- uscgmac

Thinking about getting a newer Expedition
I currently have a 02 XLT with the 4.6L. Thinking about upgrading to maybe a 2nd gen with 5.4L 4x4. Maybe a 05 to 07 or maybe even a 3rd gen 08 or 09. What opinions do people have on the 5.4L 3V motor. I keep seeing reviews to stay away from it due to cam phaser failures and other problems...- uscgmac

Fuel filter resistance
Nothing is going to break, just change the fuel filter and be done with it. You don't want to get dirty then wait until the fuel pump craps out and just have it done by a mechanic. Short term and long term fuel trims on bank 1 and bank 2. The long and short term ranges should be close to zero. They will fluctuate between plus and minus 1 or 2% from zero. High mileage Expys?
2002 Expedition XLT with 4.6L 2WD. Only 169,000k so far. I've had it 2 yrs and 20k miles. Did the ball joints and control arms. Those codes are most likely just a vacuum leak. Cheap fix, check your PCV hose and grommet and vacuum lines. You can do a smoke test or water bottle test to check for the leak. Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk- uscgmac

Probably a vacuum leak or bad MAF. In the cold weather we just had a lot of the rubber grommets, elbows and such can crack or leak. Check all your vacuum lines and MAF connections. Heater hose broke at the connection to heater core
Got that broken connector off the heater core pipe. What a *****, lol but it's off. Super cold right now so I'm going to wait a couple days to disconnect the rest of the assembly and have to wait for the new one to be delivered anyway. Cap for Schrader valve on fuel rail.
