You would think that I would know by now to post some pics right away...I will get some up this weekend. I just bought the Expedition about a week and a half ago, and was busy with work and the Marine Corps Ball. Now I am getting ready to tackle black Friday shopping... By the way, thanks to...

    New to the site

I am new to the site, so I thought I would check in. Just bought a 2011 XLT. First Expedition, after having a Ram 1500 SLT and a 4 Door Wrangler. My family needed something bigger that could still tow our travel trailer. So far, we are very happy.

    2011 aftermarket amp install questions

So, turns out I needed to step away from it, get a good night sleep, and not over think it... I decided to tap into the fuse panel. I ended up using a fuse that was not in use. My first project with the new ride is complete. The Rockford fosgate Punch HE 10" is plenty for this ride. Now, what...

    2011 aftermarket amp install questions

Tried a few of those last night with no luck. I think I read somewhere that Ford uses only 5 volts for those. I might try to look at running a wire to the fuse panel?

    2011 aftermarket amp install questions

Not sure where this wire code list came from but on my 2011 XLT it is way off. The passenger side speaker signal wires are white/orange and white/purple and the driver side is white and white/brown. Still looking for a wire to tap into fro the remote turn on for the amp...

    What is behind this panel?

I got the wire color breakdown from another member, but they were way off. Ended up pulling the door panels off to figure out the speaker wires. Now I need to find something to tie the amp's remote turn on wire into...any ideas? I already purchased a line level converter without the built in...

    2011 aftermarket amp install questions

So I got everything wired up and everything "works",, but the remote turn on wire is not kicking on the amp. I tried the yellow/orange wire, but it doesn't turn on. I can get the amp to power on if I tie into the 12 volt constand, so I know everything is working. Does anybody know where I can...

    2011 aftermarket amp install questions

thanks for the help. I got a "better" quote to install just the remote turn on wire, and line level converter...$60, but still think I can tackle it myself, as long as there is nothing tricky to pulling the head unit and getting in there. Again thanks for the assistance. GySgt K

    2011 aftermarket amp install questions

I am going to tackle installing an aftermarket amp to run subs in my 2011 XLT. Does anybody have a wiring schematic for the factory head unit? Or know which wires I need to tap into for the line level converters and the remote turn on? Any tips on pulling the factory head unit would be...

    What is behind this panel?

It looks like a sub encloure behind the panel. It is a black "case" that takes up the entire inside of the rear passenger side panel. It must have some fans in it, can hear them runnig when I turn on the blower. Thre is also some metal hoses runing behind thre that get pretty hot, so there must...

    What is behind this panel?

Mine has the sync, no DVD, and no Sub. There is absolutly no room on the passenger side. A little room in the driverside. I picked up a used bandpass box that had blown speakers in it for $15 last night. I have two 10 Rockford Fosgates that I put in it. It fits behind the third row between the...

    What is behind this panel?

I took a closer look at it last night...yeah, it is the heater stuff behind there on the passenger side. There are even some metal hoses that get very hot (so I am guessing thre is a heater core back there also. So now I am going to rethink my amp and subwoofer install ideas. Maybe put the amp...

    What is behind this panel?

Trying to figure out if my 2011 XLT has a stock subwoofer installed. If it is there, it is not working. What is behind the passenger side rear panel? there is a "vent" in the very rear and front of the panel. Haven't tried to pull it off to look inside, but it lookes like there is some sort of...
