    Catch Can!

This interweb thingy says it is located where the passenger side hose is connected on the lower side. I haven't pulled mine but would think it should seal fairly well with positive pressure on the intake side. Any little bit of crud on the valve seat might allow extra flow that wouldn't...

    Catch Can!

I just installed the JLT kit on my 'new' 50k mile '17 EB; hope it's not too late. With the gen1 - 3.5EB, there is no Ford approved method to clean intake valves. Cleaning these valves can push chunks of carbon and sludge directly into the turbine wheels. Any wheel imbalance created from this...

Bleeding brakes before changing brake pads?

I used to compress the fluid back up into the master cylinder and have never had a problem, but I started bleeding calipers about 10 years ago. The idea of bringing fresh fluid into the heat cycled zone is solid. Another benefit is that it excercises the bleeder screw and prevents seizing from...

    Expedition Ecoboost Tune

Thanks everyone, that is some awesome information. Oops, I meant engine brake when I wrote e-brake. BTW I emailed MPT about a tune for the 17 Expy XLT and it is not on their front burner as of now. I have the FP OBD2 USB connector from the Mustang power pack 2; will look into some of the PC...

    Expedition Ecoboost Tune

A performance tune producing +80rwhp +80ft‐lbs sounds like a no-brainer. One question: the tow mode down shift feature is awesome and I wouldn't want to lose it; anybody notice any negative effects on the tow mode e-brake function?

    Primewell Valera AT Tires...Thoughts Anyone?

I would say both but 'off road' is a relative term. My off road consists of gravel and muddy ruts with an occasional hunting trip to the hills of GA where 4WD is required. My cousin who does a lot of lift mods recommended General Grabber ATx but having trouble finding the propper load rating...

    Primewell Valera AT Tires...Thoughts Anyone?

Liking the ideas. Any experience with road noise of the Cooper Discoverer ATPs? Seems like the price is decent considering the overall positive reviews. https://www.discounttiredirect.com/buy-tires/cooper-discoverer-atp/p/15944#/read-reviews

Popping Noise From Rear A/C Blower '03 Expo

I have read that these temp selector actuators and roof / floor selector actuators use a motor impedence monitoring circuit to stop the actuator motor when at the end of travel (full hot/full cold). As the internal plastic gear teeth, bearings and mounts wear, the gear mesh loosens up and the...

    Floppy Hood when driving

My '15 Mustang hood used to move a lot until I adjusted the 2 rubber standoffs at the front corners. They keep the hood pressed tightly against the latch. No idea if the gen4 Exp is set up that way but mquick5 might benefit from this. The rubber standoffs look solid but they are actually...

Where do I find a NEW fuel tank?!

Went thru this a while back, what a pain in the ars. There were no new tanks to be found anywhere. Thinking if I got one from a yard, how much longer til those tank fittings crack, also my tank is in good shape, other than the one fitting, why waste that. Considered JB 2-part marine grade...

    New Expedition Owner

Personally, I like the transmission flushing machines. I'm at 197k on '03 5.4L and have had 2 flushes done, they run around $100. When you factor in cost of fluid, filter, gasket, gasket maker, time, Go-jo, paper towels and cat litter, a flush doesn't cost much more. The machine replaces the...

175k miles and becoming the Daily Driver - things to consider?

Agree with all the above, I'm at 195k on an 03, 5.4L daily driver. I have not replaced all ignition coils but I have replaced a few coils more than once. Usually use OE coils and I'm convinced certain cylinder positions see more heat in the engine compartment and don't last as long...

Popping Noise From Rear A/C Blower '03 Expo

After changing both actuators once, my temp actuator started popping again. I said screw this, reached down through the tray access and unplugged it. It stays on cold unless I plan to go up north in the winter, no more popping, everyone happy.

    New member, older XLT

Hello from South FL. I have owned a 2003 XLT 5.4L since 2005 and have been through quite a bit with ole girl. She's got 194K and still has kinda pretty original black paint, some rusty roof issues, but she rides like a dream and tows the boat fine. '11 Toyota Camry '03 XLT Exp 5.4L '15...
