Okay gotcha. The engine light did flash months ago which I was told is caused my a misfire, but then never did it again. But something is definitely messing up. .. thanks!!
Thanks you so much! I just ran it for about 5-10 mins, and I realized it doesn't really "knock", but just runs a bit rough (which seems to be what it has been doing along). For example, I revved it up (in Park) and when the RPMs ramped up, and then when I eased off the gas, it sounded rough...
Hmmm......it's not just a light tapping sound if that's what you mean. It "knocks" pretty hard. And it's only started doing it a few months ago. The engine temp is always below the mid point.
I don't know how to narrow it down. I don't know anything about trucks. :(
My check engine light has *not* flashed in months. I do however notice when idling, it knocks. But when I get going, it seems to run great.

This is probably really simple, but I was wondering what the oil gauge means on my 2005 XLT dashboard? It has an "H" and an "L" and is normally above the middle point. Is this temperature, pressure, amount of oil in the crank case, or what? Also, what level should the gauge needle normally be...
