So I just got my 07 EL lifted with a 3/2 level kit (really pleased with the bigger tires and it looks better in person than the pics I saw on the forums!!!) but now have a suspension question. This is specific with regards to towing (which I am actually doing with my truck now).

With the leveling kit installed, the truck has no rake. As a result, the back end on the truck now squats a bit with the weight of the trailer (it is a car trailer if it matters). I can play around with positioning of the car on the trailer to help minimize tongue weight, but the dip will still be there. So my question is, is there a different spring/shock combo to better support the rear of the truck with a leveling kit installed (i.e. minimize the amount of dip with the trailer attached)?

This is not a real big deal as I don't tow on a regular basis, but I wanted to know if there is anything out there that might address this.

If u hardly tow, the sacrifice of a harder shock in the rear for just looks when u tow is just not worth it.

Yeah, I was also thinking along those lines, but I didn't want it for looks when towing, but for function (i.e. better geometry and tounge weight control).

My truck has 75k miles on the clock (I bought it used with 24k miles on it) and after looking at a few threads about shocks, I started wondering if I should be replacing mine soon based on age and mileage. If I did replace them, having a slightly stiffer rear to support towing is something I was thinking about, but I am still in the early stages of learning about the suspension options for this truck, hence the question.

Maybe look at the rancho strut set up for the rear. They say it has a little lift to it. You would have the front end rake again but when towing you would probably be level.

Thanks for the tip, I will look into those.

I am actually not interested in getting the rake back. I just got rid of it and I like how the truck looks now. I don't tow enough to justify it, but I wouldn't mind having a set of springs/shocks that minimizes the drop when towing, if that is even possible.

Yes they do but the controller is another kit you have to buy.

Now that is what I am talking about!! Unfortunately, I am not sure I can justify it based on how much I tow..... Why can't I have my cake and eat it too :Frustrated: !!!!!

Also, I took a quick look at their site and did not see any direct applications for 07+ Expeditions.......

Well I took a closer look at the Rancho option and don't think it is a viable one for me. The Rancho shocks/struts have a built in lift based on their design (the spring perch is higher than the spring perch on stock struts, thus giving the mild lift). I already have the leveling kit installed on my truck and even if it were compatible with the Rancho shocks/struts I really don't want my truck to go any higher than where it sits now.

But I did find a possible solution that will help address the sag when I tow, but not add any additional rake or affect the ride when not towing. They are Coil SumoSprings made by SuperSprings. Very simple and clean, check them out here.

As far as a shock replacement, I am leaning towards the Strutmaster kit. I am familiar with Eibach springs from my cars so I know they are pretty good. According to Strutmaster, the struts are either made by KYB or Monroe and then specially valved to work with the Eibach springs (which is how a suspension system should be designed IMHO).
