Sounds like a heater core. If your smelling coolant when you open the door, that's a dead giveaway. Run your heater, check inside cabin, feel if carpet is wet. Why not talk your Oreilly guy or girl to walk their $200.00 tester out with you to your suv. Test time is only about 5minutes. Catch them at a slow time. Once you pressure test it, the leak will get worse, so be funded with cash or credit to do the work. Good luck.

It seems to be getting worse just sitting in the driveway.

Is there a specific repair manual that you suggest to go with?

I just used a radiator tester. I could not get it to pump up at all....I still have not located exactly where the leak is coming from....the inside floor on the passenger side it dry and I don't smell anything I'm going to let "Little Red" my Ford Escape, to cool down and test it to make sure the tester is working correctly. If little Red can hold pressure I guess I will need to get under Big Red to see if I can find it. I hate going to the dealer for anything I can do my self.

Look around the spark plugs for coolant. When the coolant hose cracked it didn't show anything until I moved it around. It was a small crack that was underneath by a T section.

I haven't exactly located Mund yet either. Unfortunately, d/t time constraints, it's going to be this weekend before I can start taking it apart. All I know Is that mine leaks while cool, when the ambient temp warms up. It stops in the event no when it cools down. My block is ad dry as can be. Almost 100% positive it's coming from the heater core. I'm probably just going to pony up the money and rent the tester for an evening and hope that I can find it when it increases. My carpet is also dry, but it smelled like antifreeze in there on the passenger side the other day.

Hi everyone. First post here.
I had the same issue twice, could not find it.

First time it was the heater hoses, it turns out that the oem factory hoses are actually two hoses: at the firewall end there are small extension hoses (one for the inlet and another for the outlet). Whenever I checked the actual hoses I could not find any leak, however I discovered that one of the extensions had the leak.

Second time it was the water pump, it had a leak right at the center at the pulley (you could not see it) and the antifreeze was all over the place because of the fan.

Hope this helps.

Regards!

Under pressure your hoses in pic #1 are likely leaking, I was able to find a video on YouTube where I fixed that hose with a simple pipe connector and hose clamps. check it out. I bet if you move that house around a bit, you will find where it leaks.
