FYI; In many cases, the TB can be recalibrated. We have a procedure for my SLK which basically includes:

Turn key to first position(may be similar to accessory?), Put gas pedal to floor, turn key to OFF, let pedal off floor. wa la......car is noticeably peppier afterward.

Might be a similar procedure for ours?

You said you are just shy of 60k.
Does this fall under the factory 60k powertrain warranty or did you buy an extended warranty?

Not that is a huge deal as the part is only $120.

There’s a flaw in the plastic gears inside the throttle body motor that causes the issue, so recalibrating it won’t fix it. At least that was my understanding of the issue.

I have no idea to be honest. I have an extended warranty, so it could have been either. Didn’t cost me anything, so I was happy. I didn’t realize the stock one was only $120, I had checked for aftermarket ones and the BBK 73mm was $450.

Our family business buys all Ford F-150 ecoboosts. Regrettably, we have replaced multiple throttle bodies on 3.5L’s.

Do it yourself. It’s a piece of cake.

FYI, I have NOT needed to replace mine on my 2013 King Ranch F-150 with 97,000 miles. I wonder if it’s because I use a “catch can”?

Catch can wouldn’t have anything to do with TB. TB is powertrain related. Maybe you just got lucky!

I see what you’re saying but when I put a Cobra Jet TB on my Shelby the stocker (with 5,500 miles) was coated on the rear side with oil...

I’d say you have gotten lucky as it really seems hit or miss.
My wife has a 15 Expedition as well, but her’s has over 80K and still on the stock throttle body. I expect it to happen sooner or later though.
Having researched further, it seems the gears aren’t the issue, it’s the actual little circuit board in the plastic cover that provides the TPS reading that goes bad. It’s so common that Delphi (who produced the TBs) has actually started just offering the plastic cover with the chip in it to lower warranty replacement costs.

I had the same problem with my 2015 at 64,000 miles. The first time it happened I got a wrench light. I thought the engine failed because I lost power and the engine only idled and sounded like it lost a couple cylinders. I shut it off, turned it back on and everything was normal. I took it to dealer and they could not recover any codes or find anything to indicate a problem. Because of my extended warranty they could not replace the throttle body even though they suspected that's what it was. So I continued to drive it and about a week later it happened again so while the wrench light was on I hooked my scanner up, captured the code, told the dealer the code number, and they replaced it for me.
