Definitely looking forward to some specific pics...night shots of the distance throw, can you maybe park along a wall so we can see how quickly the lumens fall off? And cutoff pics would be awesome too. As you know from my other posts, having had several sets of LED headlamp bulbs I am really wanting to find a set that can compete with HID’s and won’t disappoint me with lack of distance light throw. These might just be the ticket.

So are these a straight up replacement for the stock headlight bulbs on my 08? Or are they just for the newer rigs?

The SL1 is a direct replacement for a single filament halogen bulb. They haven't completed a dual filament bulb replacement yet so these wont work on anything that uses a single bulb for high low. They are developing a hi/low option though

Couple of youtube reviews from a few months back suggest there is (was?) a flicker issue with SL1s. Hope DD has this resolved. Might have something to do with the wait.

These come with a anti flicker module built in. The three ppl I have talked to who run them on their 2016s say they haven’t had a single issue with flickering since the day they installed. Best part is everything fits behind OEM dust cap

Chuck - I have the projectors and have tried the Sylvania Ultra Stars or whatever they are called and they still don't "project" very well.

Well yeah.... cuz Sylvania halogens are legendary *****.

Just ordered the new Diode Dynamics SL1 Low beam LEDs for projectors. Here a few shots from a guy on facebook. Can’t wait to get them in. Huge difference IMO
Perfect fit behind the dust cap, no modifying involved

1600 lumen LEDs for $150???

You can get 10x the output for 1/4 the price

Same general design too, since that housing is utterly unoriginal and quite typical

Well every other person Ive asked that has used some kind of amazon LED says the dust cap won’t fit back on without cutting it and everything this kit comes with fits in the housing. DD has done a great deal of R&D to get these LEDs compatible with our projector head lights. I prefer to order quality products and from what I’ve seen on a few expedition applications so far, these LEDs definitely out perform OEM halogens and some other LEDs.

I went through 3 sets of leds on my truck before settling on the ones I liked and no issues at all with the dust cap not fitting on any of them

From what I’ve seen, I won’t have that issue. Pay for quality, get quality. Pay for cheap shit, then you have to go through 3 sets to find a good one like you did and they probably still aren’t as good as these
