Need to replace my ujoints on my front driveshaft. I have all the bolts out was able to get the front of the driveshaft free from the front diff but am having issues freeing up the rear part of it from the t-case. Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't it have to slide out of the t-case? I have soaked it with penetrating fluid, tried heating it, hitting it with a hammer but wont seem to budge at all. I am at a loss any help would be greatly appreciated.

Every front driveshaft I have removed from an expedition has had the same 4 bolts front and rear of shaft , 12 mm 12 point socket . Does not slide out of the transfer case.

I was able compress the driveshaft all the way then jacked up the front and was able to get the front of it past the cross member for the front diff and then took a flathead screwdriver and pried it apart from the t-case.

Just out of curiosity, what was happening that lead you to replace the u-joints? Vibration?

Yea very bad vibrations above 40mph and there was a lot of play in the ujoint on the front of the driveshaft which was the cause of the vibrations

ditto on my 98/5.4/4r100

4 bolts at the rear & the driveshaft flange separates from the transfer case output flange

mine was rust stuck but a few hammer taps broke it free
