The 3 valve 5.4L uses a cylinder head temp sensor, I’m not aware of a coolant temp sensor even if it does exist. It’s likely the sensor itself not the connector.

I did some digging for you, and as I suspected there is no ECT on your truck, only a CHT, so scrap looking for your non existent coolant temp sensor. The code you will pull will likely be for the cylinder head temp sensor, now this means there is a fault somewhere in the circuit that includes the sensor (harness, PCM, connectors, sensor) as stamp suggested troubleshoot from there. Often times it will be the sensor however.
