Glue a new US penny to the terminals. The copper cladding conducts those "free electrons" directly to the zinc core of the penny. Sacrificial anode.
Total cost: $0.01.
Not hard at all, the hardest part was removing the old clamp without damaging the cable. How hard was it to crimp the new terminal ends onto the existing cable wire?

I used the large 'Channel locks' i could find at Harbor Freight for $15. Slowly compress the clamp/cable into a tight rectangle shape. Then place an 1/8" bolt between the clamp and channel locks and squeeze in to a 'B' shape (looking at the end of the cable.) Replace the plactic wrap and finish with electrical tape for extra protection.
Got the idea from this video:
Just did a repair on a positive cable, once I got to clean copper on cable, I took a piece of 14 gauge solid strand ground wire and wrapped it around the cable and then crimped it. Extra piece of wire keep the strands tightly together when crimped.
