I'm having an issue on my 2007 Expedition EL, with the rear air suspension not working. The rear end is completely lowered and will not come back up. I've verified that the air suspension compressor does turn on, but the suspension bags are not inflating (I assume so, because the rear remains completely lowered). I disconnected the airline/port directly at the compressor/dryer to try and determine if air is indeed coming out of the compressor. With that line removed from the port, should I expect to feel a strong air push out of the compressor, like what you get from a portable air compressor hose? Because it's more like a "trickle" of air.

The air pressure is small due to the line size and the small compressor size. Nine times out of ten it's the air bags or airsprings the proper name that rot out and leak. They last about 8-11 years depending on usage and if they dry out. Most customer's don't know that spraying down the bags with silicone or rubber spray lengthens their life. You can replace the bags or swap in coil springs all 4 corners.

Thanks for the reply, 1955moose. Neither rear airpsring is filling; isn't it unlikely that both airsprings would suddenly stop filling at the same exact time?

Very common. If in doubt have someone check it out for you. Suspension inspections are usually free or low cost. When my 84 Lincoln front bags went out, both sides dropped. At first it would pump up by flipping off switch in trunk, then flipping it back on. You might try that with yours. Switch should be in hatch area, check owners book for location.

different model year, but my rear bags dropped due to the air union coupler failing which is under the master cylinder as I have four-corner load leveling suspension. part number here if it helps: Ford # 2L1Z-5B322-AA

I also replaced compressor due to catastrophic failure, and rear bags; ordered as a kit from Arnott. my fronts are an air shock/strut combination.

++ on spraying down with protectant, as well as soapy water on connections to reveal a leak.

report back.

The earlier ones like 1 St and some 2nd edition had the switch in passenger side foot well. Gixer do you know what year they went with the steering wheel method?

I have a 3rd gen the compressor quit few days ago. Was told to replace the air suspension relay that looks like a heat sink module. Cant find the location of this part? I have check all fuses and relays all good and replaced to just confirm. Anyone know where this relay/module is located with the heat sink of it?
