A buddy of mine just purchased a 2017 Limited with key-less ignition. His key fob has the 2X with the circle around it. I thought that was for auto start. I have a "real" key on my 2017 and that is what that button does. The button on his does not appear to do anything.

Any ideas? If he does not have remote start, can it be added to the fob and truck or does it require a separate key fob?

Last question, he only got one key from the dealer. Any suggestions on getting a 2nd key fob, or is the dealer the only way to go?

You have to press the lock button once prior to the auto start 2x. It will only auto start if the doors are locked. This extra key press also prevents accidental auto starts from having the key or fob in your pocket.

I wish I could of read this a couple weeks ago, lol. I purchased the remote start fobs for my 2017, then enabled remote start in Forscan. It worked a few times then quit, but I finally figured out the sequence!

You can get the Keyfob off eBay or elsewhere and save a few bucks but will still need to be programmed by the dealer or a locksmith as you must have 2 keys to program them yourself.

Supposed to possibly be able to program keys in ForScan but have no clue how to do it.

2017 I'd of made the dealer provide me with a 2nd key!!! I stumbled on to this last week, took a minute to find the link.

If you have 2 original FOBs, you can program an additional remote (up to a total of 4) yourself. No need to take to the dealer and you don’t use FORScan either. A search on this forum will give you the proper instructions/sequence of how to accomplish.
