Update:. Dropped the pan and valve body today. Not too bad of a job, but it is messy. A few things to note:
2008 lincoln navigator (zf 6hp26 transmission)
The exhaust is in the way of the back 5 bolts so you need a small right angle wrench that can use a t40 torx bit. I bought a small kobalt set that had this small wrench included.
The mechatronics/valve body bridge was not cracked but the seal was slightly warped. The 4 valve tubular seals all looked ok although they were somewhat crushed compared to the new ones.
When you drop the valve body, more fluid will dump out.
The pan gasket is what looks like paper and it matched my replacement exactly.
All parts fit and looked identical to the original.
Tools needed:
T40 torx bit
Small ratcheting wrench that can use the t40 bit
8mm Allen key
Oil catch pan
Angled pick or small needle nose pliers to remove 4 sleeve adaptors
Inch pound torque wrench
Oil pump(had a cheap harbor frieght hand pump that worked great. $5-7 at harbor freight.)
Takes about 2-3 hours if taking your time and allowing things to drain properly.
I'll update if this fixes the 2-1 bump or not.
