It isn't that comfortable. I can't speak to the later models but my 01 Yukon had 4 way lumbar adjustments and the seat moved seperately from the back so you could get the lumbar in just the right way in your back for max comfort. Th is expedition only has 2 way lumbar adjustments and the seat is connected to the back so if it isn't in the right vertical position you just have to deal with it. That being said it is starting to hurt my back. I don't know if I would want this on long trips. Also this is the limited version.
I'm 6 hours into an 8 hour drive and have been running the heated seat to compensate for my back hurting from the lumbar for the past 2 hours ....just made a pit stop. Mine is the 17 limited EL. I've done this same trip with my 01 Chevy Suburban LT 20 times or more without my back hurting. The last trip in the suburban was this past spring....

My cloth seats are comfortable, never hot or cold......but they are cloth......More work (I have to clean them with Shout constantly). They still look new but it takes work to keep them that way, cloth is def more comfortable than leather but......leather is just plain nicer and easier to maintain.

I sort of like this forum with the open back and forth discussions. Even if someone doesn't like a particular feature, it is pointed out so you can make a valid decision if you can live with that defect. Overall, I plan to rebuild a number of Expy's as a hobby. I am going to pick up some late model roll overs from Insurance sales and drop the interior and complete mechanical (including computer) into an earlier model that is clean but high mileage or possible low mileage with blown engine or trannie or both. I appreciate the good, the bad and the Ugly so keep posting guys.

I can’t speak to the Ltd (nor to previous gens) but I’ve done several 5+ hour road trips in the Platinum...seats are sublime and the “active motion” feature is wonderful. No, it’s not the equivalent of a massage, but it is fantastic when you’re in the saddle for more than an hour. My wife doesn’t like the butt portion of the massage on, but I leave the butt and the back on, helps the legs not get restless.

My 07’ has 170,000 miles on it and has been a wonderful vehicle. Never have had a drop of water in the cabin (unless I spilled it) :).

Statistically speaking the Expedition has been more reliable and longer lasting than the GM competitors. Multiple studies available. This is due to a more simple and robust built truck with less to go wrong. (Gen 1-3).

You make some good points Shane, but I think ford still needs those bread and butter sales. They send me offers and flyers on the latest and greatest Expedition multiple times a year, they’ve never sent this non Platinum buyer anything for a CUV or Car......js. Explorer sales are also not as high as previous either, and that’s a crossover. I can’t change the market trend, but I think consumers overall are starting to vote with their wallets, and a change will occur. Can’t take away that they are building nice trucks.

My 01 Yukon XL I recently sold has 374k miles on her and the sunroof never leaked the 7 years I owned her.

Where are you getting your "statistics"?

Theres many articles and studies that show the expy and sequoia are the most reliable and longest lasting fs suvs on the market now.

The seats in both my expy n old navi never rele gave me issues. The two biggest issues are that the seat bottom is a bit too short which can cause your thigh or lower back to sit unsupported and only two way lumbar, but not many vehicles out have 4 way lumbar. The ltd seats are very supportive, if you drop in them wrong, it comes off as uncomfy but get in them right, all day comfort with no fatigue at all.

Bit surprised with the uncomfortable seats comments. We did a tour of ND, SD, NE, CO, AZ, NV, CA, NV, ID, MT and home some 9000 km over a 2 week period with a few 6 hour plus drive days.

Car was 2 weeks old so not exactly after wearing a butt groove in the seats or bedding it in. We never got out of it with any back issues and I'm a big 6' 4" guy.

Admittedly it took a bit of finessing the seat base angle versus seat back and the lumbar support is a bit on off but no issues for me. And once set, I stuck it memory and over the following day or 2 tweaked the seat angles minutely and stuck the changes in memory. Haven't touched the seat buttons since.

But maybe different sizes, back lengths vs leg lengths might change that.

Edit My biggest gripe is I tend to drive with my left leg back towards me so my knee rests against the outer armrest (whatever that thing is with the mirror and window controls on it), and it hurts the side of my knee and on a limited trim makes the plastic squeak going around bends.
