My 17 sounds very similiar, I'm at 42k miles. Dealer says normal as well, but I've got a chunk of powertrain warranty left, and cpo warranty till 100k. I get the oil changed at the Ford dealer and will drive it till it breaks I guess. If I had to guess though, I think it's csm phasers since there is no rattle on cold start (on mine anyways). I've stood next to others that were dead silent at idle and others that sound like mine, and yours with waay more miles so who knows. You should be able to extend your power train only warranty for 800 or so through Ford online. Powertrain will cover water pump phasers, timing chain, water pump, etc. Just do it before you are outside the mileage window or the price goes up.

I have a similar sound on my 2014 Fusion 2.0 EcoBoost. It is quieter than that and for some reason I only hear it in the cabin. (Mostly at stoplights) I have 75K on it but the sound became pronounced at 50K. 3 Ford dealers and nothing found. Maybe time chain guides?

My '16 Expedition sounds the same and has since I bought it. These things sound a bit like a diesel at idle due to the injectors firing. I've heard a couple other Ecoboost 3.5s and they all sound like that.

Well for now I'm glad mine sounds nothing like the one in the video.

Skip to 0:30, This is what injectors sound like....It’s a rapid ticking sound. The OPs video doesn’t sound like injectors.

I agree OP'S sounds like rocker noise to me. But really hard to tell from videos.

I have gotten no response posting this on the Fusion Forum. There are very few 2.0 Ecoboost vehicles.

My 2017 Ecoboost Expi is running quiet. Here is a video of my Fusion.

Dealers claim it is normal. What do you guys think? You need to turn up the volume. Once the car goes above 1K RMP it gets quiet.

Not a good comparison. Multi port injectors are quite different than direct injection injectors.. 35-50psi versus 200-2000psi.. DI injectors are quite a bit louder, and the high pressure fuel pump makes some noise too.

You are likely correct with the camphasers, not foreign issue to Fords. Here are a few threads on similar concerns on both gen 1 & 2 engines.
