What is the preferred Front Motorcraft HUB# for a 2008 Expedition 4wd when they are both specified?

The 355 seems to be the newer part but has reduced diameter for about double the length (7/32 vs 4/32) as in the 3rd picture- will that matter?

The second picture generally shows how the newer 355 flange is not as thick all around as the older 248 model. The 248 is 15.36 lbs and the 355 is 14.16 lbs.

Rock Auto had them both specified till I bought the one 248 they had left.. that was made in 2015. The newer 355 was made last month. Just wondering if there are other design differences?

I guess I'm wondering if I should find two of the same model #s OR try to install them being different and see what happens?

I"m only seeing the HUB 355 now on Rock auto. The other day they had the HUB 248 as separate line item and only had one left. I bought that one. I then went to buy another 248 from a different vendor and they shipped me the Hub 355. I've read in different places that it's the replacement, I'm just wondering if I should hunt around for an older 248 OR are their design difference that make the 355 superior? The 248 was made in 2015. The 355 was made in OCT 2018.

If they both say they fit you can likely use either. Sounds like one superseded the other.

Looks like they just shaved some material off the shoulder. Is the distance from the stub face to the spline face the same on both bearing hubs?

Yes it looks to be the same otherwise. I suppose they will both work and the time will tell how the newer design holds up.
