…..Thankfully I don't need to bother with SYNC etc on my 07 EL since it doesn't have it and the other computer frills, not even a sunroof - and I like it that way.

I know a guy who bought a couple of Sirius or XM (or Sirius-XM) car receivers at an auction. They were still active. He's never paid a bill and several years later they're still working. Apparently the company 'lost' them somehow and has never updated their database to discontinue service to their serial numbers.

Years ago in the mid 2000s, XM offered a "lifetime" membership. It was several hundred dollars and had transfer restrictions. But, if you purchased it the subscription will run for a "lifetime", regardless of who buys the radio. Even though it was expensive it was actually a great deal, which is probably why they don't offer it anymore.

Your name and state suggest you might have an originally-Canadian vehicle now in USA?? (EL vs Max naming)

In that case, yeah, vin number might limit or trip up certain US-market online services....maybe try Ford Canada

So I was able to get an account set up using the Ford Canada website. I was then able to use that login info to sign into MySync and download the update. Thank you for that suggestion. Not sure why no one at Ford could instruct me to do this.

I've been trying for a couple of weeks now to log into my Ford account, want to add my 2017 EL Limited and remove the 2013 Explorer I sold. Trying to reset my password using the reset your password link and keep getting errors the system is unavailable when trying to set a new password.

So I used my wife's Ford account, add the expy to it and downloaded the latest version of Sync using the USB drive method to update it. The wifi doesn't work very well outside at my house to do it via wireless.
