There are 4 of us, we all want a 2019 Ford Expedition 303a model package. We are going to pay cash. Does anybody have advice how to go about getting the best deal.

Buy 2018 leftovers. You'll save about $45K from the start. May take some hunting, but saving money always takes work.

It's difficult to negotiate when buying with cash. The majority of the dealers' profits are on the back end with financing, warranties and fees. Don't mention cash; try to negotiate as a fleet deal. Buy any extended warranty on-line elsewhere.

Some dealers have special fleet departments. Treat this as a fleet purchase and you'll get some incentives. Otherwise, buying a 2019 now is going to cost you just about top dollar.

If you are buying on Long Island, avoid John Staluppi's dealerships. Consider buying out of state where you won't pay abusive taxes and the upcharges and extra transport charges of the New York market.

How's your credit? If it's "excellent", you may get a better deal financing than paying cash. See, car loans are sliced and diced and resold just like what the banks were doing with mortgages before the crash. In order to get the best price when reselling the bundled loans, the banks *need* some really good loans to sprinkle in amongst the crappy ones. So they offer incentives (cash) to the dealers who bring them really good loans. And so the dealer will have more room to negotiate... And you can always pay the loan off the next day or the day after you've made three payments*

*Usually the arrangement between the banks and the dealers is that the dealer doesn't get their payment until the buyer has made three payments. So paying the loan off immediately can leave the dealer without their expected payment....

How about talking to the general manager of several Ford Dealerships and let them what you are doing and let them know you are shopping Dealerships for the best deal. Maybe order all 4 at the dealer that gives your group the best offer. That way each of you can specify exactly what you want from the factory. Any Ford dealership should jump at selling 4 of their highest profit margin vehicles in 1 sitting.

Unfortunately Craig, the twin turbo is the only way to go on the 19 Expedition. Now the F150, you've got a choice of the smaller non turbo six, the 5.0 Coyote V8, or the twin turbo. But unless you guys know something I don't, theirs either the 375 hp twin turbo, or in the Platinum the hotter 400 hp version. That's one fast people hauler.
