This is my first post, forgive me if in the wrong forum. I can’t see hardly at all while backing up in the dark not to mention the huge blind spots. I’m wanting to install a rear camera but they’re just too dull. Does anyone else think the same and what have you done to remedy it. So far I’ve just polished up the rear lens covers. They didn’t seem milky. I’ve actually considered installing a light, I don’t know how to wire it in for back up only. Would like to mount underneath the bumper. Would appreciate recommendations. Thank you.

Pick up some high intensity white led grill lights and mount them under the bumper. There is at least one thread on here doing that - huge difference. I'm using a set of Swift 3 watt TIR leds off Amazon for a different project. Volt range is 12-24 and are the brightest at 24v - amazingly bright.

WITH a camera:
Step 1) LED plate lights
Step 2) LED reverse lights

Pack of JDM Astar 194/168 lights will get you there

WITHOUT a camera:
Step 1) as above, but won't be enough with tint
Step 2) buy LED pods, drill the ends of the frame rail under the bumper (it's open ended so you can get a wrench in to tighten the nut to the mounts), install them and spice into backup lights in taillight or trailer connection
Step 3) blind spot mirror stickies or tow mirrors (help a lot, you can actually see your rear wheels for parallel parking and such)

PS you'll need GOOD drill bits to get through the rail. If you're using regular brands HSS or "titanium" yellows, BUY TWO, or you'll have to go back for more.

The LEDs pictures are JDM Astar (~$12 for 10), the pods are "Lightfox 4in 18watt" (~$14 for 2)... no issues with either

Have any pics of your LED pods installed?
I added LED plate and reverse bulbs and that helped substantially.
Thought about adding some pods on a switch but don’t want to add them if they stand out too much.
I don’t always need the added light.

I think the safest element here isn't even that YOU see it, but that EVERYONE notices if you've shifted into reverse

Where did you order the Lightfox pods from? I am only finding them in Australia and not shipping to the states.

I just bought the cheapest pods on Amazon at the time that had half-decent reviews (~4☆ or more)

Check for complaints about DOA, crap output, and leaky housings, otherwise they're all pretty much based on just a few models

PS you want "FLOOD" beam patterns. NOT spots.

I was looking at Flood/beam combo pods.
Loghtfox claims to be that and a few that I have found on Amazon.

Guess I need to get around to getting rid of my resonator and doing the side exit bit since the resonator sits under the passenger frame rail.

I'm pretty sure you want pure flood, not flood-spot

According to amazon it seems they changed the name, my order history shows "Lightfox" but clicking on it, displays as "Kingopt"

In any case it's just one of many, I'm sure there's better stuff too
