It’s all installed, but to get it working with 12v yesterday I had to run off the battery with a relay. I couldn’t get anything when probing the large orange wire under the hood. I must be missing the fuse in the fuse block.

adamsdaddy, did you have to add a fuse or do you know what number it is in the block? I saw things listed like “Trailer Module”, which has fuses in all of them, but I couldn’t find anything in the owners manual that was specific for the trailer 12v.

Anyone have a source for the $40 OE brake controller mentioned above? All I see are $80-$100. If that’s the price, I’m ok with it. But if there is a less expensive source, I’d jump on it. The Tekonsha P3 I have is nice but I still haven’t mounted it. No need to put holes in the dash if I don’t need to, right? Everything is operational, just considering the OE setup.

I think you may be referring to my post earlier.
It wasn’t written very well the $40 more I was referring to was total cost of the project and not a $40 controller, sorry.
Cheapest I have seen was $76 on eBay all the other main part suppliers are $80-$100.
Sorry for the confusing post earlier

Responding to post # 42. I saw a you tube video that said the computer doesn't sent power to the 12V orange wire unless it recognizes a trailer is hooked up. The guy hooked up a couple lamps to the 7 pin connector and he got 12v.
