I have always noticed the 4.6L, 5.4L, and 6.8L Triton engines have a very unique “strong” startup sound from the factory. When the starter is cranking the engine over they are louder than most other engines. Sounds tough is the best way to put it. Is it simply just the Ford starter?

Once they fire they sound just like any other V8.

It's probably cause it's a relatively small starter. And it's turning over a fairly high compression motor, that's my take, probably wrong, but.

The sound after it fires is pure V8 JE.....and yes, i miss it. I wonder if the CC deadens the sound after the platinum catalyst gets hot cause it did seem to change once warm.
