I'm pretty sure he's referring to a radar detector that the "VIPER" system can't detect. VA state police use radar detector-detectors. They generally target commercial vehicles, though. This guy got away with it. Notice that the cops start looking for the "hidden device" almost immediately.

I really got a kick out of this!!
What a waste of time and resources in these areas that do this.
Come on!! It's easy enough to catch speeders all day long and IF you JusT HAVE to get the ones who buy detectors to try to beat you, they are still pretty easy to catch.
Detectors, even the best(and what a high priced item they have become) don't save you all the time.

Was it on an expy with the tow package? From what I see when I look under, I have the hitch bolting to that

Not the ladder "rung", the long rails

That was me. Can't find the pic anymore, backing up onto an SD card put em all out of order somehow...

Should be on here somewhere, though

I have been using Radar Detectors in VA since I was 16. My Dad has had one in his cars all of my life. Remote units, that are shielded can only be sensed by the State Police when they are like within 3 feet of the unit, which is impossible at highway speeds.

I have used Beltronics, Escort, and now Cobra through the years. Had a remote unit installed in my Jetta. Now I use a Cobra iRad(Older version) with the iRadar App, in the windshield. I put it in a location that makes it hard to see, and I have Never had issues. I only use it on longer trips.

My biggest addition has been the console swap to front jump seat. I’m a ford guy and had I not been able to convert my expedition to a 9 passenger then I would have been stuck in a 9 passenger suburban or Yukon.

I was wondering how you did this because I need to do the same thing for my Expedition.
