Hey all.

Donny K here in SE Washington State.

Got a White Rhino 1998 XLT AWD 4.6L

Just got it back from Jamco, who had it the last 8 mos while I scrounged up $3,550 to
get him released. Yep, it's a him, 'cause it don't smell like a her!

Anyway, he's mine now and with a rebuilt tranny to boot. I think I'm lucky I didn't have to drive through the snow this winter but then again, it just sat for 8 mos! So, it has some issues but, I'm confident I can get it back on the right track.

Thanks for your time and input. I always go to forums with any challenge from appliance repair to videography.

Cheers!

Hey Donny! Welcome.

He looks to be in good shape! What sorts of issues will you be dealing with to get him road worthy?

Sorry, Gents... I got bogged down in my work for a bit.

I'm back now to disclose some issues I've had.

First off- My AC was 22 pounds low so, the local Total Care mechanic put dye in with the top-off so he can check for leaks in a week. AND, the Transmission Fluid was a quart low...
Also, the same mechanic found my Coolant to be "muddy" and with a reddish tint. He suggested that Transmission Fluid may be leaking in... I looked it up and found that to be a possibility. I also called Aamco to see if there was any Coolant in my Trannie when they cracked her open, but they said there was none.
The truck runs nice, never gets hot, and does not lose Coolant. ???
Some suggest a flush (because there may be mixes of Coolants) and I want to flush it soon.
I guess my main question there would be: Can they check for Transmission Fluid Leaks when they flush, or do they need to remove the Radiator? Because I know a Flush Job does not run $800!

That's my main issue right now

Donny

P.S. Thank you for the warm welcome.

Get a real mechanic. Sounds like you are dealing with chain store clowns. Find a local, independent shop. These issues are simple for a real mechanic. The answers you are getting and the installation of dye in your AC smacks of incompetence.

You can get advice here, but you need someone real who looks at that truck.
