I picked up a used one for a pretty cheap deal. So far I've only programmed the economy tune (its only been 4 days). Does anyone have any other experience with it? Any tips or tricks to get the most out of it. I'll probably only really use the tow and the economy tune, unless the performance tunes are really something i'm missing out on.

Or any general thoughts about it? I picked it up thinking if it doesn't do much for me, I should be able to get my $ back.

I had one (it could program your ECU and also doubled as an ODB2 reader, it was a well known brand, might have been superchips) and programmed my 2005 expedition with it, if you floored it for a 20 seconds with the power tune, the check engine light would come on!! I really couldn't tell any difference for any of the tunes (economy or power) in the end I put my ECU back to standard and sold the unit to someone else. Really seemed like a waste of money, the good thing is that I later got an 08 expedition but based on my success on the 06, I have no desire at all to try tuning the 08 with a tuner!!

You’ve never been tuned by 5 star then

X3 on 5 star. Both my 06 F-150 and my 08 Expedition are running their tunes.

Programmer you plug in to load their custom tune. I was able to re-use a SCT tuner I had purchased ages ago for a different truck, which was nice.

They have their own vendor section on this forum and can answer all your questions.

Maybe I need to try 5 star, do you send them your ECU or is it a programmer that you plug in?

Gary
Programmer. You send them your stock tune and they send you whatever type of tune it want. You can do your own datalogging and send them the files back for revisions. I’m on revision 5 for my 93 perf tune and 2nd revision for 93 perf/tow.
