Ecoboost leak testing procedure (2015 Model)

Well, after dropping down to 15 mpg from 19 mpg and 3 days at Ford telling me that car was running as designed with no leaks I took matters into my own hands.

After some research on boost testing I found basic tests but nothing pertaining to our ecoboost as a step by step kind of guide... So I'm putting this up here.

First was a matter of getting a 1/2" ball valve and a 1/4" Barb fitting to fit on my air compressor.

I removed the engine cover and disconnected the lines on the boost solenoid.

First I tested the wastegate system by plugging into the T feeding both turbos. About 3psi they started opening and as the pressure increases they smoothly opened fully about 8 psi.

Next was removing the filter intake and installing a plug to seal the system up. Then plugging into the left side of the solenoid I started putting pressure on the system and almost immediately I started hearing a leak... 3 leaks later it was holding pressure to about 15 psi (max for the gauge I was using. Please note by doing this you are testing the boost piping, intake piping, cac, and the feeds to the turbo. So it tests pretty much all the pipes from the filter box to the manifold!!

Put 60 miles on it and the engine is running much smoother than before and back up to 19+ MPG

I have a 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4, purchased new. It has never been wrecked or damaged, or altered.

At 45,*** miles, I replaced the original spark plugs and they were BLACK. Air filter replaced every 15,000 miles with an OEM Motorcraft.

Now at 52,*** miles, I have a rough idle, especially with a cold start (ambient temperature now is 50 - 90 degrees F). My fuel mileage has dropped by about 2-3 mpg, and my driving habits and routes have not changed. I also buy only Top Tier fuel at the same stations.

I would be interested in where the leaks were, and how you fixed them. Thank you.

As far as fixes most of it was just tightening the clamps. I did add additional clamps on rubber to plastic connections leaking that did not have prior clamps.

The leaks were spread out I don't exactly remember where
