Thanks. I work in IT and have ~25 VMs running on my home server. I was just hoping that I would not have to go that route if I didn't have to.

As do I. Have all OS’s running around my house! MacBook Pro is my primary laptop, Precision Workstation for VM creation on customer sites, and I use my old Latitude 7250 as my programming laptop. Like Black said, the Dell/Best Buy special will cut it just fine. Does not need to be powerful, just portable. I use an HPTuner MPVI2 as my Tuning device, and I need a laptop for that also. So it serves for all of my vehicle needs.

Good to hear. I'm tempted to try lock 3X's on my original fobs to see if they will start it.

Still not sure about the climate settings. Summer will be here soon, if it automatically runs high cold ac from the vents, I won't have nothing to worry about.

I tried my original key fobs, they will not start the truck, no matter how many times I hit lock.

As far as the AC goes, it will run if the temp is set to cold. The fan speed can be off, but as long as the temp is set to cold I get high ac from vents. If set to heat, I get high defrost. So nothing to adjust here.

Does anyone know if the number of keys is limited on the 2017 Expedition?

I realize this is a mature thread but my question is related to this topic so I will start here rather than start a new thread. '
My keys have been cut, I have the listing for REMOTE START in ForScan and was ready to start. The Locksmith that cut the keys told some of the Fords (at least the older models he was not sure if it appl nied to the 2017 models) had a limit on the number of keys that can operate remotely. He thought only four could operate remotely and only 8 could be set to start the car.

When I got the Expy it only had one key. I purchased two more and programmed using ForeScan. So there are currently four keys though I only have three. I want to add the two for remote start.

He also said if the new keys do not operate the locks, cycle the ON-OFF 8 times to delete the remote program then depress the lock button on the four keys I want to use. I have of course read of the requirement to cycle ON-OFF 8 times make the remote start function but there was no mention of that procedure erasing the program for the other remotes.

What do you think? I am a little reluctant to start, now.

6 Sept 19 EDIT: I got one key to program the buttons and now have remote start. What the locksmith told me was not quite correct for my car. Cycling ON-OFF eight (8) times did not erase all the key's button programs. It only seemed to program the key in use.

6 Sept 19 SECOND EDIT: I tried the second key about a dozen times today and finally got it to program. Then, just to make sure, I tried Key no 1 again and it did not unlock the doors or start the engine. So I tried the ON-OFF cycling again and this time did press the lock button on each of the four keys and now they all unlock the doors and both new keys operate REMOTE START. Hurray!

Sorry, I know this is old, @mquick5 , but for me it was hitting the remote start button 3 times (despite the button saying 2 times), not the lock button multiple times.

I think the max number of FORD blessed and baptized smart keys, like the one in the photo, you can have per vehicle is Six (6). More than that the dealership looks at you, "Funny," like your up to something, or no good. Still want more than 6 smart keys. Well cause I occassionally have to much time on my hands, often a story to tell, drop me a shout and I'll send the rest of this one. 86e39a82e4fe2cd9a11cb73a4a8854c9.jpgb520d5b715bc266d37f2fb88bb5554eb.jpg

So I tried to program and set up REMOTE START on my 2017 Expedition EL XLT.
The remote tart feature did appear in the menu items in plain English in FORscan. The Remote Start parking light option was not there.
I first added the 2 new remote start keys using the FORD procedure. Both keys started the vehicle but none of the buttons initiated their functions.
I thought it may be due to the four (4) keys limit for remote functions. (There were already 4 keys set up but I did not receive one from the dealer).
I then erased all the keys using FORscan and re-programmed the two remote start keys and two others. I still could not get the buttons to work on the to remote start keys.
Somewhere along the line I got no key to start the vehicle and had to erase and reprogram keys.
I am now left no worse or better than when I started. Three keys work the doors and a five keys start the truck.

Some of the times the procedure of turning ignition ON-OFF eight times did operate the door locks indicating I was in program mode for the remote buttons, but the two new remote keys never enable their functions.

I guess my conclusion is the keys I bought don't have functioning buttons.

Let me know you think of anything else to try.

There's 2 different steps to programming keys. One for ignition, and for fob buttons. I posted on this earlier in this thread. From memory I had to turn key on and off 8 X's. See post #25 & 26...

It took me a few tries to get the fobs all programmed, too. I would advise persistence.

Thanks for the m'quick response....
Yes I tried cycling ON-OFF eight times based on your previous post. The first few times there was a double door lock or something like that I figured I was in the programming mode for the buttons, but none of them ever worked.

I was able to get one of keys programmed and now "the wife" has REMOTE START. She was so happy :)

She wants to know what else can I do with FORscan!
