I ordered a new Expedition MAX in February. I called the dealer several times to find out when I could expect it. They referred me to the Ford rep. I was told by the Ford rep (Ford employee) that the order was entered by Ford as a "stock" order as opposed to a "customer" order and was at the end of the line. I was told that the delivery would be in mid-summer. Long story short, I complained to the dealer and they found a similar vehicle at a dealer 400+ miles away. Have others had problems with special orders/scheduling delaying delivery?

If you go digging in 4th gen (2018+) sub forum, you'll find several threads from early 2018 bemoaning build times of 14-18 weeks. The 22" wheels and 3.73 rear axles were both supply constrained. I was under the impression that those problems had been resolved, though. What configuration did you order? Personally, we ordered mid-January 2018 and were told 6-8 weeks when we placed our deposit. We took delivery the last week of April. :)

You cannot order a new vehicle - the dealer must do it.

Did you sign a purchase contract for a specific vehicle? If so, the dealer did not order the vehicle you agreed to purchase as a sold order (versus a stock order for the dealership).

Your dealership employee / salesperson has some explaining to do IF you signed a purchase contract and they did not order the vehicle for you.

Why did the dealer employee refer you to the Ford representative? They should have been able to handle all your questions.

Is the dealership obtaining the vehicle that is 400 miles away for you?

We ordered our 2019 Expedition on August 1st just after the order bank opened in mid July but before production started (October 8th). Dealer made it a priority 10, customer order and it arrived at the dealer on November 30th

The order was for an FX4 XLT MAX with heavy duty tow package with the 3.73 axle. The dealer claims it was ordered as a "customer" order and the Ford rep said it was mis-entered by Ford. The Ford rep called back and apologized again for the screw-up at Ford's end. I have a signed order and put money down when I placed the order.

I now have my new Expedition delivered already broken in! The one thing I miss most from my old one is that the rear side windows in the cargo area don't open in the new one. They were needed when the dog passed gas.
