Ticking sound

I only hear this ticking sound when i press the accelerator. it is not heard at highway speeds. the sound quickens as the speed increases.

Have you had exhaust manifolds checked out? The 5.4 has leaks all the time that make a ticking noise.

Torque spec is found online to be 18 lb/ft for exhaust manifold. Dont exceed that but put a wrench on those bolts and if one comes off... that happens. Have a shop do the removal for sure. I had one thread holding a bolt in place so try to loosen a bolt by hand. Since it is not recently worked on it is probably a broken bolt rather than just need tightening. It is easy to reach most from inside the wheel well. Unless its something else. When i was burning oil it would tick when it got low. Check the oil.

Its your exhaust manifolds. Likely a broken Screw/Bolt or its just rusting like a Duck. I had this exact issue, swapped some headers on, no more ticking and sounds better overall.
