Hey everyone, long time no see.

So after a time of indecision between 4BT swapping or selling, I've decided I'm going to leave well enough alone, put a nice exhaust on her and drive her. I use her primarily as a boat hauler anyway. This was my grandpas before he passed so I am pretty attached. I do have some questions though:

1. Has anyone been able to locate aftermarket or OE heated mirrors? Long story short, when I was much younger and dumber I thought it would be cool to bedliner the mirrors and now I hate it. We all know that crap isn't coming off. Same goes for the plastic piece on the rear bumper.

2. The front seats are plush, but not comfortable for me. This thing has never been my daily, but my past vehicles were: 02 F150 Fx4, 07 Wrangler, 01 Cobra, 06 F250, and now a 05 4Runner. All of them had seats with at least a slight bolster in the butt and where much stiffer. I know Expeditions are supposed to be mushy and comfortable, but it's too mushy for my fat butt. I thought about swapping a 2002 Fx4 bench in it but I realize that the rear ratio controls are in the center console. Although I plan on getting an aftermarket unit put it, I read on this forum that messing with that would cause the rear speakers to stop working. Although I am unsure of the truth in that. Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion for replacement front seats, or how to maybe stiffen them or even re-shape them? They need to be recovered anyways.

3. This question isn't directly related to my truck but is just a general curiosity: the Eddie Bauer trucks had the fender flares that were gold along with the tan valence in front. Does that have something to do with color coding to the interior? My Fx4 was red with grey on the lower portion and grey fender flares with a grey interior. Now there is a google image of an Eddie Bauer Expedition with a grey front valence and tan rear bumper top with the gold flares, and it kind of makes me cringe with the clashing, but I'm just wondering if the plastic pieces coincide with the interior color.

4. The ding protectors on the doors...do they come off? I ask because mine are the ones with the chrome strip in the middle and I am just not a big fan of chrome. I mean the bumpers are fine, wheels sure, but that is where I draw my line in the sand personally. At least for the things I own. No disrespect to those who love the shiny stuff.

5. I've heard that the mod motors need back pressure to function correctly. After reading up on it extensively I've found that is not true but instead, like any exhaust, it needs optimal velocity flow. Would long tubes, stock cats, H-pipe, mufflers, and resonators be within reason of these characteristics? Ideally I would use the stock 2.5" throughout. And can anyone recommend a way to attach said headers without it developing an exhaust leak like I currently have?

6. My cruise control went out years ago. Does anyone know how to fix it?

7. Long ago the torsion bars were cranked up to level the truck and fit larger tires. Can I go back down?

Thank you!

Hey, there my name is Patrick, maybe I can help you with some of your questions I own a 2002 4WD Eddie Bauer expedition my color is the Arizona Beige Metallic with the
medium parchment interior I have the leather seats in mine, which are actually fairly comfortable to sit in, I have to ask you what trim level is your expedition? if you don't
mind me asking would you like me to send you a list of a few names of auto salvage yards near where I live at and maybe they can help you out on the mirrors for you as well.

I have to agree with you a full 100% I'm not much into the chrome shiny stuff either yes I to have the door guards in the middle of the doors but mine matches the color of
my paint far as they come off I'm not sure about that and I don't want to try taking them off either.

I'm looking into once I get the extra money set aside I'm having a flowmaster cat back exhaust system installed with the black
exhaust tips coming out the sides instead of the usual stainless tips going straight back like everybody has around where I live at.

far as the cruise control goes it could be a number of things 1-blown fuse 2-the switches in the steering wheel has gone bad, the cruise
control itself could have gone bad.

far as your question concerns about your torsion bars being cranked back down that's something that you would have to talk about to
your local ford dealer simply because I don't want to give you the wrong answer hope you understand where I'm coming from.

on a different topic if you like I could email you some of my latest pics of my 2002 FWD Eddie Bauer expedition I've done things like
added aftermarket headlights with built in LED running lights, replaced the factory tail lights with LED tail lights I've painted my
tan running boards with a gloss black and I'm just waiting on my brackets to mount my 30 inch led light strip onto my luggage rack
and I've installed a weather tech stone and bug shield on my hood and I even have the in channel window visors.

Hey Patrick, I'm Chase.

My trim level is the XLT with the 5.4L and medium parchment leather as well. I appreciate it but surprisingly after I typed this all up I found mirrors.

See I want to find door guards like yours. I don't mind having door guards just wishing they were body color.

That exhaust setup is similar to what I want to do with tips out the sides. I did out the back on my F150 way back when so it will be a nice change in my opinion.

I have seen before someone had an issue like mine and it was a relay, but that was on a 1996 F150. So I'm not sure if it will be a similar situation.

I am thankful you don't want to feed me false information. I feel like the process should be reversible but I'm not a certified mechanic, just shade tree.

I would love to see some photos of your truck. I'll PM you with my email.

#5 If an exhaust leak is a problem then back pressure is necessary. Back pressure is certainly more significant in a modified engine. Cubic feet per minute intake should equal cfm exhaust at temperature and i would think a certain rpm. If you open exhaust then open intake. This will result in change of power band to lower rpm and may cause wear on the engine. May also give the power to break other parts of yhe car.

#6 is your clockspring. I had to get mine from a parts vehicle because the one from the store would not fit correctly. You will need t50 torqx socket( however torqx is spelled) and a puller. Theres two little things at the column axle and on the back of the thing holding it to the frame. Its hard to explain. The two on the axle press in tot he axle and wiggle the inner part off the hooks. Do not damage those plastic hooks on your vehicle they retain the new one. I will post images later.

#7 lift the front and turn the bolt off the key. Theres a key and it rotates as you turn the bolt. The rotation gives the torsion bar more or less spring onto your control arms. It rotates your control arms down or up. Yea you can adjust that. Very easily but just lift the front and loosen the bolt against the key. The torsion bar goes into the key on the back and i to the control arm on the front. With the vehicle lifted this could be removed with a hammer but getting to the end of the torsion bar may require some removal of other stuff. You dont have to remove the torsion bar. Theres a step on the key for two contact points of the bolt. You can see the bolt by looking under the vehicle an tracing the torsion bar back to the key and the frame.

You should be able to find other details

#6 necessarily is not the clockspring. With some schematics and an ohmmeter, you can check the switches in the column at the speed control connector. Be sure to check wiring for burn marks and controller. Also check brake switches as they have been known to fail and cause speed control unit to burn up. Another symptom is the horn does not work when the key is in on position. I have a post on debug in this forum.

Right it could be something else. If the horn does not work and you have an airbag light, as i just did, then the clockslring is probably it. Still theres a chance its something else, of course. My steering wheel lit up and it was not that hard. Its good advice to unplug the battery so if you plug in the airbag it goes off while your at the battery rather than in your face. So for sure unplug the battery. Electrical is a pain. Diagnostics are a benefit of this type of forum and are a huge help to me so... its not necessarily the clockspring, true. If the rest of the steering wheel features are failing then I would put money on it and its wirth the 20 bucks i paid for it at the junk yard over 160 for the new one that did not fit.
