A 275/55/20 is 31.91 inches tall
A 285/50/20 is 31.22 inches tall
A 305/50/20 is 32.01 inches tall
A 295/55/20 is 32.78 inches tall

So if you want to stick with the closest overall diameter you need the 305/50

Cosmetic purposes only honestly

There's nothing wrong with wanting your truck to look "right" to you. Many can't be that honest with themselves. I worked many, many years ago at a gym giving defense lessons part time(I wasn't a gymrat) so I used to hear all the guys coming in and saying they wanted to lift weights to; "build stamina"......no, they wanted not to have that concave chest looking back in the mirror at them but no way they could admit that to the pretty girl selling to them. LOL

I'd like that wider stance too but I ruled out the cheap options for doing so and it's not worth real money to me.

good luck!

I have 11.50 wide up front and have no tight turning issues and that’s with 1.25” wheel adapters too

You have 1.25” offset on yours? can you share a pic?

I want to go with a slightly wider tire and offset them a bit, but I can’t quite figure out how far to offset them without it being either cartoonish or pointless

So if you are going straight from stock tires (which I’m assuming are 275/55/20) my setup would be equivalent to those stock tires on about +6 offset wheels. Now I kept my OEM wheels for now and elected to go with 1.25” adapters which put the tires right where I wanted them about an inch or so outside the fenders

Understood. I have a habit of wanting tires flush with fenders in every vehicle I've ever owned. No sticking out no tucking in, but I like the wheels on this 17 so no changing them. I'll have to accept the small tuck I guess

Keep in mind that big wheels/tires are harder on suspension parts like ball joints, tie rods etc. These SUVs are hard enough stock on their hard parts due to the extreme weight and no grease ability of parts. I was looking into F150 pickups last year, and was disappointed with the look of the biggest 275/55r20 setup. It just didn't fill in the fender wells proper. It was like a 295/50 or even 305/50 would look so much better. I'm like you that for look, filling the inside of the fender well as far as possible looks best. That's what most 30's-60's resto mod folks do. It's just a clean look. To me, going way off set to bring tires 3-4 inches or more past fenders just looks goofy. If someone is going that route, put on flared fenders. At least that looks halfway right. You asked about steering in an early post, my old 2000 4x4 steers fine, and my jump was from 265/70r17. Your only bumping up a size or 2. Here's a few picks of my 285/50r20's look like on my first edition.911b03aab3d2f9f0fe6a7629ecaa317a.jpg4deedfa421b58152ab9527540702e6e9.jpgd77779c3693b85f68ab9a33a6791f2fe.jpg
