Oddly enough when i bought mine i received a carfax. Is a 2001 xlt. Loaded. But it was owned by an older couple who bought it new and owned it till 2010. it was sold and shipped to jamaica. Jamaican gov. Owned it till 2016. it was sold to a dealership and sat in there back lot till feb. 2019 when i bought it. 110k original miles and imaculate maintence on everthing. All done by ford. Came with more paperwork then i cared to look through.

I wouldn't trust ANY odometer figures out a country as poor as Jamaica

Lol the truck is clean. Stupid clean. Carfax matched all records and services. I don't doubt for a second that the mileage is true. I did valve cover gaskets when i first got it and the motor was super clean. No sludge and doesn't use oil between changes. I do my homework before buying anything. Work on All my own stuff always.

Do you mean the lights don't turn on when you open the doors? Or can't be manually engaged?

If doors, then that's just Dark Mode (police settings), codable via ForScan or Dealership

No the lights don't come on either way. Headlights are messed up too, one is on high beam all the time.

Pictures please...if you take it to the local ford dealer and give them the Vin# and ask them to run it...it will tell you on that if it was fleet ordered..Mine did...not to mention the exact build date and all the options..nice to have for reference...

almost any VIN translator, such as https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/vindecoder.php?vin=2FTPX17ZX3CA03375 will run it for you. an actual police, etc., vehicle will come back as an SSV. Mine returns as:

STYLE: 5.4L Special Service 4WD.
TRIM: Special Service

The vehicle more than likely had a headlight flasher (wig-wag) unit that was cut out. Some were spliced near the bulb plug, and others had a jumper plug from the flasher that plugged between factory wiring and the headlight bulb. Look for non factory wiring that was cut. Whelen and Federal Signal have online wiring diagrams for their headlight flashers that will show how to return to civilian service.

Engine's the same as a regular Expedition. The rear end should have the higher of the two available gear ratios. You may have a larger alternator and battery. Bigger radiator and trans cooler perhaps. Probably a column shifter too.

Beware that a flaw in Ford's VIN system identifies many cars as SSV's which were not.

Look for an 04 SSV brochure on-line and it will list the SSV package's exclusive features.

That's interesting

I never did figure out how to get back High Beams on my SSV, but never realized others have had the same problem

For me engaging high beams kills all illumination instead
