When in "comfort" mode on my CCD suspension, highway rides can get you to white knuckle bouncing on bad bridge joints. I've always been an adrenalin junkie, but this is too much of a pucker factor for my liking... Normal is better, but honestly I like the sport setting or whatever it's called when I'm on twisty back roads. It makes it feel like I'm driving a car with my 22 low profile tires.

My '17 rolls more than my '06 did. I suspect they softened the suspension for the soccer mom crowd, and reduced spring rates / stabilizer bar sizes. That said it still handles very well for a high (!!) 6000 pound beasty. I don't offroad other than on my own property.

Also noticed rear settles more than the '06 when hooking up trailer with 500lb tongue weight.

Waking up an old thread, sorry. Just had oil changed and asked them to check my alignment since the factory goodyears are wearing on the edges enough that they are nearly smooth. Plenty of tread depth in the center of tire. Tech came back and said alignment was within spec but they noticed the rear shocks leaking. They said this is contributing to the tire wear?? Well they graciously offered to replace the rear shocks with OEM Motorcraft parts to the tune of $740. I declined.

I'd like to replace them at all 4 corners with kyb or bilstein. If I take it to an independant shop that does suspension, will I have to worry about the spring perches being non replaceable or will they know how to handle that? Only 56k miles on the truck but towing season is quickly approaching and I'd like to get this sorted soon.

BTW, I happened upon a steal on 4 new takeoff tires ($200, less than 1k miles on them), but they are the same soft wrangler HT tires. Ford dealer said they'd mount and balance them for $60, which is $40 cheaper than Walmart! I'll be back there on Monday to have them swapped.

Not really convinced that bad shocks would contribute to odd tire wear patterns.

It sounded funny to me as well. I went on bilsteins website and they only list the 5100 for my 17 expedition. If I order those, are there any other parts I would need to do the swap? I'm assuming the whole strut and spring assembly comes out as one piece, like a front strut?
