Wife came home after work and parked the truck in the garage. About an hour and a half later I went out to get something out of the garage and noticed a nice pool of reddish coolant in front of the truck. So I gave the whole top and bottom side of the engine a good once over and this is what I came up with.
The coolant overflow tank was pretty much bone dry. Took a good bit of water to get it back to the lower line on the tank. Filled it up to there. All the coolant was dripping out of the square access plug on the skid plate. The same one you would take off to catch the oil filter drain (the rear drain). Put the truck up in ramps and took the felt skid plate off and began poking around. The turbos were bone dry. The ecu looking thing that is right above the skid plate where that plug was that I removed was wet. And could kinda tell that it had dripped off the front of the engine. The oil filter cooler lines were dry, and so was every coolant hose I could see. Didn’t see anything around the thermostat housing...I couldn’t get a good visual on the water pump tho, but I’m not sure if that is the kind that would leak externally or just dump all the coolant into the oil. Speaking of the oil, it was clean as well. So I couldn’t find any signs of drippage any where. Took the truck out for a 10 min rip around and parked it and didn’t see anything anywhere....the overflow tank was empty again tho. I’m gonna check the tank in the morning and fill it back up if need be and see if anything leaked overnight.
Anything else I could possibly check? I couldn’t find where the overflow tank releases to, I saw it go in the fender by the air box but I lost it after that. Is it possible that it could have just over pressured and burped out?
