So apparently what I saw wasn’t the leak. I brought it in to the dealer and they said it was the heater hose on the back of the engine. eac1f1cfe4a9c0d6dbc85adb1a79e454.jpg

What the hell is a "parish sales tax"? The local priest is collecting forced donations at the dealership? :eek:

Also, I wasn't aware there was any coolant hoses at the "back of the engine". Was it a heater core hose? If so, then that's pretty steep for something that's exposed and easily accessible (at least on the V8 it is, not sure about the EcoBuddy engines).

Oh, ok... got ya.

I asked because there was a scam up here in a large metropolis of Kanukistan, where many restaurants colluded to collect a "tax" that was in fact a "voluntary donation" for some Leftie cause of theirs : they would add an extra "tax" to your bill and would only remove it if you noticed and asked them to. People who missed it and paid the bill were duped!

:rolleyes:

I'm in Louisiana, we like to call our county's parishes for some reason.

I also had them do some other stuff while it was in there. But just the hose replacement would have been $440. They are a little expensive on the parts and I never would have imagined the labor would have been that high. I haven't checked under the hood yet to see where this hose was at.

Is that 3 hours labor to replace a quick-connect heater hose? They can put up a fight, but for a change mine didn't. I think I did two in 20 minutes.

fl1z18472b = $55.79
bl3z18472d = $16.76

They're essentially selling them for 200% of what you can buy them for yourself. That labor is the real killer though. That's like a 1-hour job (I replaced these same hoses a couple years ago.).

Yeah this may be the last time they see a dime from me. I've bought a couple of Ford's from this dealership in the past and never really had a problem with them. But when I bought the Expedition I could have sworn I told them I didn't want the extended warrantee but when I was going over the paper work when I got home I noticed it on there. Yeah I know, my fault for not checking while I was there. I was gonna go back and get a refund for it, but my wife wanted to leave it so I did. I did come in handy when the power running board went out, and I thought it was gonna come in handy for this job too, but the service writer called and said that the extended warrantee was only good for 75k miles. Really? That doesn't seem very extended to me. It is what it is...I blame no one but myself. It won't happen again that's for sure. Looking at replacing my Honda Accord that I drive for a Ecoboost Flex w/appearance package, and it certainly won't be from them.
