You obviously haven't driven a 15-17 with ecoboost. ;-) Night and day over the 5.4L. I'm a V8 guy, but you couldn't pay me to drive a 5.4 Expy over the 3.5. Well... maybe you could pay me, but you get the idea.Well someone on the forum has a 2015 with the correct body, electronics, and interior but has a 5.4 Triton. So apparently someone 5.4 swapped an Eco truck in Europe lol. Where there is a will there is a way. Me? I wouldn’t attempt to swap either for either....too much work for engines that accomplish the same thing I’m the same truck with similar specs. All that work for what? I guess you could be the cool guy and get to say you did it.
I have, I’m not a huge 3.5 fan but do get it. Just does not sound right in the cab of these big trucks, almost seems wrong when you hear it lol. 0-60 on the standard length 5.4 vs 3.5 with 3.73s is only 1 second difference (6.5 vs 7.5) and they are rated within 1 MPG of each other. Also like that the 5.4 Triton has aluminum valve covers vs plastic, metal water pump, cast iron deep skirt block vs aluminum, stamped steel oil pan vs plastic on the ecoboost.....it’s just a more robust engine over the long haul overall. That’s why the 5.4 was found up to 1 tons. When I buy brand new I won’t worry about that stuff as much, but for now I buy used sh*t. I want the better used sh*t lol.You obviously haven't driven a 15-17 with ecoboost. ;-) Night and day over the 5.4L. I'm a V8 guy, but you couldn't pay me to drive a 5.4 Expy over the 3.5. Hear it? That's the beauty of the 3.5L. I can't hear it at all. Even after removing the resonator. If I want to hear something I'll go start my 460ci Chevy. I had a 5.4L in my 04 F250. Biggest mistake I ever made was getting that motor in that truck. It had to downshift all the time on even the slightest hills because it was so under powered. Less than a year later I traded it in on an 05 F350 w/6.0L. I've towed my 24' car trailer with both my 07 5.4L and my 17 3.5L. The 3.5L tows circles around the 5.4L IMO. I'll put my 17 up against my 07 on the 1/4 mile any time. I'll guarantee you I'll be stopped and waiting at the end of the track for the 5.4L to finally roll across the line.I have, I’m not a huge 3.5 fan but do get it.
