I've read tons of articles and sticky's on the web but 99% involve the infamous clunk when engaging to 4x4. I have no issues with engaging, however, when I'm in 4A, 4H, or 4L I am getting a very loud clunk that can be felt throughout the whole truck. This usually happens under load or when one of the front tires loses grip and spins. After the clunk sometimes I can hear what sounds like gears grinding other times it's just the clunk. Sometimes it's just one clunk, other times it does it 4-5 times in a row. It almost feels/sounds like one or both front hubs are "slipping" out of gear then slamming back in, or it's happening at the transfer case. Has anyone else experienced this?
Even though I have no issues with initially engaging the 4x4 could it be a bad IWE solenoid? I was first leaning towards a bad CV joint until I started hearing the intermittent "grinding" noise. Any suggestions?
Truck is a 2011 EL 4x4 with 3/2 leveling kit and 35" tires. Other than lift and tires it's bone stock.
