I was scraping some ice the other morning and just barely caught the gap between the two plastic pieces that form the cowl beneath the wipers. I think it must have already been cracked, because a 2" piece of one of them flew right off.

I've looked at Ford's online parts catalog, and they want $128 for just one of these. I checked LMC Truck and they don't carry any. Anyone else have an idea where I could source 1 or 2 of these? Forum search didn't turn anything up.

I can check in the spring when I visit the salavge yard again. It won't be before March unfortunately. Have you checked ebay and rock auto?

Even if you get it off eBay that's about the going rate for each piece after shipping. At that age they're very brittle, so be careful with anything from a junk yard.

If you can handle it, far from brand new perfect ... Repair it with Gorilla Tape. I did that and it lasts for 2 years without touching it and doesn't look too bad if you do it right.

I broke mine several years ago removing ice. I actually banged on it with my fist to break up the ice. I know, not too bright. It was patched up with Gorilla Tape and bingo. Nobody has ever said a word about it.

Pick n Pull is a great idea - hopefully the parts aren't too brittle. I'll wait for a warm(er) day and go take a look.

Rock Auto doesn't have them and eBay prices are indeed predictably ridiculous.

I could just wait until spring and epoxy the piece back on, too...

They all will have same issue. I would try www.car-parts.com. It helped me source parts no longer available and also can see if you got a local used parts store close. You are lucky it is not a crucial part so you got time to search.

that's a good idea too. I use them also,

That's a LKQ network. That's how I bought my engine.

$128 isn't that much for a part that is new and will make your truck look much better. If you intend to keep it a lot longer I'd pony up for the new one, as a used brittle plastic piece may not last long -- you'll just be looking for another one in a year or two, or a few weeks.... who knows? Been that route before, though not on this particular piece. Then again, I do remember when "extra" money was hard to come by...
