I got 2007 Expy. First I noticed that noise going 80mph. It happened once and didn’t repeat. Than it started vibrating more often and now it every time on any gear between 1000-1500 rpm. I suspect transmission is failing but need your opinion before I do anything stupid. Thanks

I suspect a fluid change will have a significant impact on that issue. Relatively speaking, the fluid/filter maintenance is the cheapest thing to try. Most reported issues like this on the Ford forums are resolved with new fluid (it does wear out over time).

For you, I do not recommend a tranny flush....yours is way too old (assuming the fluid is original) and flushing will likely cause more problems. Simply drop the pan, change the filter and re-fill. Don't worry about getting all the old fluid out. If this doesn't change anything, you're out $100, but you know it ain't the fluid. From that point on, it gets expensive.
