I have a 2000 EB 4x4 w the Monroe 90010 Coilover installed. The shocks started leaking after 10k miles at this point they are shot, probably fronts are empty.

I’m looking for a quality constructed product with OE or slightly stiffer ride. I plan to leave the Monroe springs that came w the kit. I like the stance from this kit.

Was thinking of Bilstein 4600’s but I read they are very stiff and wouldn’t be ideal in the pothole capital Chicago.

I’ve read KYB is a good alternative and not as stiff but not sure.

I’ve read tons of threads and I’m more confused.

I’m not happy w the Monroe shocks build quality- the ride quality was fine for my driving style and light towing (3000lb boat & trailer).

Thank you in advance.

I have an '08 EL so I experiences may be different but I went with the Monroes for the front and I chose the Ranchos from their level up kit. They add 3/4 of an inch in the back and that help offset the squat from my horse trailer. They are adjustable and the mid adjustment seems to work well for around town as well as towing.
At the time I replaced them, the struts were 10 years old and I was not interested in working with spring compressors or swapping springs.
I do not have experience with the Bilsteins or KYBs.
Good luck-
Stephan

I have Bilstein's 4600 at all 4 corners only good on the smoothest of roads. Very, very harsh and uncomfortable on any road with imperfections, at least that is my experience.
