Interestingly enough, I had this done and though it was fixed... What it actually does is stop the mirrors from hunting but it doesn't actually solve the problem. Most people won't notice it because they don't have 2 different mirror settings that are very far apart from one another (or it's just an additional issue that's unique to my vehical, or possibly temperature related).

If you want to see what I'm talking about, take your passenger mirror and move it down and right from your current setting in bank one ( a decent amount). Wait about 10 seconds. Press bank 1 to return the mirror to where the memory position is. Press bank 1 again and see if your mirror moves again... Then press bank 1 again and see if your mirror moves again... For me, sometimes I have to press bank 1 up to four times to get the mirror back to the actual bank 1 position.

While I thought it was fixed, it really isn't a 100% fix, the update just keeps the mirrors from freaking out. It doesn't make them find their correct positions with one press. At least it didn't for me.
Mine just got the update and does not do this. At first the passenger mirror would not move to proper bank one or bank two memory positions. Just had to move it to the position for bank one and re-save the setting and then do the same for bank 2. Switching between the two or even moving the mirror and then hitting the bank places both mirrors properly to their preset position on both banks.

Basically I think it is best to just go back and set up everything from scratch after the update is done. Mine also lost the auto fold setting and needed to be enabled again via the dash settings, however did not lose the auto window up.

So a re-save of all your settings sound in order after this update.

As far as I know, yes.

Here's a quick question related to the mirrors. For those who have power-fold mirrors, will they fold using the switch when the ignition is OFF? I don't drive our '18 very often, but I seem to recall not being able to get the mirrors to fold/unfold with the switch unless I turned the ignition on. I found this to be very annoying as I expected them to work at any time.

Thanks! :)

I don't believe they do unless at least hitting the on button. To me this would be like expecting the windows to roll down without hitting the button. The module would need constant power for this to be the case.

For decades electric mirrors were powered so they worked with the ignition on or off. I always expected something like the fold control to operate the same way. The module that controls the mirrors (the Driver Door Module) does indeed have constant power. As I recall in some other Ford models (like the 3rd Gen Expy -- again IIRC) you can fold them with the ignition off. Obviously, you aren't going to do that unless you're sitting in the vehicle. I know I needed to do it on a couple of occasions (like when parked in a tight spot, waiting in the vehicle and someone was trying to get into the next vehicle and I wanted to protect the mirrors) and I had to turn on the ignition before they would work. At any rate, thanks for confirming this. :)

I have a 2018 Platinum Max and have experienced this issue as well. (Correction) If I switch from one seat preset to another with the engine off, the mirror will continue clicking. If I start the engine and then change the preset... I've never experienced the clicking. I was able to replicate this scenario consistently.

I've had our 2018 at the dealership several times and I always get the "unable to duplicate issue" statement. I even mentioned I'd read it was a software issue but so far it's not been fixed. It's such a random occurrence it'd be nearly impossible to duplicate while at the dealership. Ours started at around 7000 miles and it's got a little over 20,000 on it now. It'll probably wait until right after warranty to finally quit completely.

That seems strange to me that they want to be able to duplicate the issue to reflash the software. I (and I suspect most others that have had the issue fixed) just told the dealer it was doing it, gave them the TSB number, and had it fixed.

Good luck
