Hi, y'all.

So I had a new stereo (Kenwood) installed on The Dutchman (it's a 2000 Eddie Bauer edition with the Mach system) back in March (first time the audio has worked since I bought it back in August 2017) and now my factory sub is almost completely blown out. It's still working but it sounds horrible. I talked to my audio guy and he said I need to find a replacement factory sub otherwise I was going to be spending $500 min on just a new subwoofer, not including labor and whatever else it would need.

So I've been trying to find a replacement but with no luck...

Um, help?

There are a lot of different ways to handle your problem.
Type "subwoofer" in the search box at the top right hand corner of this page to see many different options.

Tell your audio guy to get lost. $500 just for a sub is far more than you need to spend for something equivalent to factory. You could get a substantially better sub, enclosure, amp, wiring, and install for that pretty easily, even less if you shop around.

As mentioned above you'll have several avenues to go down as far as replacement options.

If you search in the audio section, I posted a few years ago of the output of the factory amp outputs to install a different sub. If you want to rock out and want a bigger sub that's a different story. But for good bass that doesn't rattle all the mirrors a 10" DVC in a 1 to 1.2 cu ft box is more than sufficient.

$500 for a single subwoofer? That's insane. I just sold my four 12" subwoofers for $450 and they were like new.20170717_124429.jpg

$500 is crazy! I put a Rockford Fosgate 10" DVC sub in the factory enclosure when I did my audio upgrade, and I am still happy with it a year later. You should easily be able to find a replacement speaker for less $100 and mount it into your existing enclosure.

What Kenwood head unit did you use?

KDC - X303, I believe. Still haven't gotten the sub fixed.

I was told that the factory sub for the Mach system is a sub/amp combo?

The Mach system has a sub that has it's own amp. pull out the third row seat cup holder passenger side and look in the hole you will see the amp. (if you have a Mach system)

I took the wires off the busted sub extended them and hooked it to a 8" bazooka tube. (just happened to have one laying around) That played great, I could move it around to get out of the way or just unplug it and remove totally if I needed the cargo space. That worked for a couple years then the sub amp went out and I had to find another solution.
