Anyone know off hand what MCASE fuse size we need? I was looking to get spares and they seem to come in two heights.

I already have enough spare Micro2 fuses.

Check for a missing relay in the big fuse black under the hood. I had to buy one as Ford does not install one even with the trailer package.
You can find them on Ebay at 50% saving over dealer price.

Which one was missing? I just looked under my hood and they all seem to be there (based on the Owners manual and what seemed like the ones specific to towing -- slots # 24, 30, 43, 53, and 74).

I have the fuse and 2 relays in the fuse box. Called curt because I tried the brake controller in another ford and nothing then a ram and it worked, curt tech service told me the trailer needs to be hooked up you have to put the truck in gear and then park, thst will power the 12v pin.

Also you cannot leave the key fab in your pocket and get out of the truck or leave the doors open this kills the circuit. So I spend 75k on an truck and you can’t make a pin work without a song and dance, the factory brake controller costs peanuts just include it, penny wise dollar foolish

This isn’t just Ford. The powered 7th pin on many vehicles only gets powered if a very specific set of conditions are met given a trailer can kill a battery quickly if the engine isn’t running. I recall some vehicles wont power it till they sense a load also, so testing a unused plug you’ll get zippo volts on the meter.

I even ran into a situation where I couldn’t get power. Turned out the vehicle was seeing a short in the trailer when plugged in and simply cut power to the plug. Took some head scratching to figure that out. Wasn’t my trailer and after inspecting the trailer wiring it was obvious at least one fuse would be blown on the tow rig had it not have this self check feature.

My 16’ F-150 came with the relay in a bag in the glove box. Haven’t even checked the Expy.

Mine worked straight from the dealer. Do you have an earlier version Expedition perhaps?

Mine is a 2007 Xl Limited and I bought it brand new. No relay there is a discussion of this somewhere on here.
