As I'm reading about the P0622 I realize I should elaborate on the EB's recent history. In Sept we had to replace the battery (reasonably old) for a bad terminal and starter(original). Then in November we got the charging system warning and found a bad alternator. After replacing it things smoothed out until January when it started dying overnight. I found a draw from an open circuit on the new alt and replaced it again thinking the chain store alt was just faulty. That leads us up to now.

I'll have to look up those codes but if it takes that long to start when you first crank it it sounds like you could have low fuel pump pressure.
Of course there's always a chance that it's bleeding fuel down into the intake and flooding itself out but that's more rare.

Sounds like you definitely have an alternator charging issue or if you've had the alternator off and bench tested and are sure it's good it could be a wiring issue or the fusible links could have been damaged are blown that go back to the battery.

I put in a new fuel pump last week because of the slow start but it didn't fix the problem. Would low fuel pressure only at start up be caused by a bad fuel pressure regulator or maybe the fuel pump drive modulator? As far as rare problems go, that's about the only kind I seem to have!

Concerning the alternator, if this one is going bad this would be the third one to go bad in 4 months. Doesn't that sound like the root of the problem is something bigger?

I can't help but think this is all symptoms of a core electrical problem like the ecm going bad?

My mechanics solution was to replace the alternator, again. 4th one in 5 months. We traded the expy in 3 days later. Not sure what the problem really was, maybe just a bad run of luck with new alternator but my wife lost faith in the old girl so she had to go.
