Michelin Defender LTX M/S on all our vehicles except the GT & CJ. The '16 still has the stock Good Year but when those are done will be replaced with the LTX.

See above, ditto for me! I run Michelins on both of my Expeditions and my F350 King Ranch. Also running them on my 31' Airstream. If they made Michelins for my Harley Davidson I'd run them on it too!

2012 EL Limited. I put on the Kumho Crugen HT51 a year ago. 10,000 miles and no complaints. It’s my wife’s “ferry the kids around” vehicle, so lots of start/stop/turn, etc., with little wear seen. They balanced out great, and from a stop to 90+, they are very smooth. They also track great. I did the brakes right before the new tires, and had a full alignment when they did the tires. Highway ride is noticeably quieter than the factory Goodyear’s (granted the old tires were well worn, if that makes a difference). I’d recommend highly, and would purchase then again 100%. Plus, the price was right, and it's a 70k mile warranty, which I believe is possible.

I know this is an old thread, but I’d like an update on these tires. These were my top choice but I realized that they were not the same rating as what’s on the Expy now. Currently a 113T and the Kumhos are a 111T. Is this enough of a difference to worry about??

I know this is an old thread, but I’d like an update on these tires. These were my top choice but I realized that they were not the same rating as what’s on the Expy now. Currently a 113T and the Kumhos are a 111T. Is this enough of a difference to worry about??

I have Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires. They're 10-Ply tires. They'll survive most any obstacle. Only downside may be road noise. They can be loud, but I'm willing to deal with noise to get over potential obstacles. Reasonably priced, too.

Those numbers refer to max weight capacity per tire. The 111 had 132 lb less rating per tire. Not a concern for me, they still give a combined rating of 9600 lbs max.
The tires have held up extremely well. Excellent wear (or lack of) and air holding. They do not require much servicing to keep them at the proper pressure. I know that has to do with living in central Florida, and not having wild temp swings. But they do hold air better than others tires I’ve had. I honestly would put the exact same tire right back on it I needed new tires again.
I can’t speak for snow/ice traction, as I live in Florida, or off road use. The limited off pavement use they have seen is some gravel and dirt parking areas and a beach trip. They traveled fine on very hard pack beach sand (a drive on beach, very hard pack) and no slipping on wet grass/dirt parking lots. They also don’t pick up rocks in the tread when parting in gravel lots. Highway travel is solid, they track well, with minimal noise. Wet traction is also very good.

Thanks for the info. I’m in South Louisiana so I’m not concerned with snow/ice performance. 98% highway / grocery getter duty. Very rarely, we do use it to tow a trailer with 2 SxSs on it. Probably in the 4500-5000 lb range for total trailer weight. Sounds like this will be my next tire purchase.

As has been said, the “right” tires depend on what you’re doing. having said that, i will never trust Firestone again. I’ve had two firestones, years apart, with steel belt separation, one coming through the tread.
On the other hand, i love Goodyear Wranglers. Once upon a time i lived and worked just south of death valley. My Stock 4x4 4 cylinder nissan with wranglers was the designated rescue vehicle when anybody else got stuck.

Then you will be saying never Goodrich and then never Hankook. They all can have a bad tire day at the factory.
